Many moons ago Sony decided to ruin their reputation by entering the "I don't have a lot of money but I want it loud" market. Yes.......The Sony Xplod.......That red X printed on the subs, radios and amps. For 10 years Sony tried their best to make people forget that the Sony amps and subwoofers actually exploded (Just kidding.....you know what I mean). Well boys and girls they almost got it right with the Sony mobileES. Sleek & Sexy design, built and engineered to sound really clear and clean, and way out of my price range. The Sony name will never reach "The Alpine Royalty level"in car audio world but hey, they make great television sets and own a lot of patents. The mobileES reminds me of Hyundai introducing the Genesis line. No matter how hard you try, you will never convince anyone a Hyundai Genesis is like buying a Mercedes Benz.

Our acclaimed Mica Reinforced Cellular (MRC) diaphragm material is further enhanced via a honeycomb fibre structure, for unmatched rigidity and responsiveness. Enhancements over the years of MRC material development produced a driver 10x more rigid than conventional PP Matrix cones, for natural low-distortion sound and a wide frequency response.
Separated Notch Edge Surround
The woofer surround features another proprietary Sony technology, with distinctive curved notches improving the vertical amplitude symmetry, for dramatically reduced distortion and enhanced clarity.
Progressive Height Rate Spider
The acoustically-optimised spider allows for higher power handling and airflow, with a profile designed for more rapid and precise cushioning of the speaker cone. To increase signal integrity and prevent sound interference the lead wire from the voice coil is also sewn to the spider, reducing wire movement.
Gold-plated Input Terminals
Gold-plated spring terminals allow up to AWG#10 speaker cables.
Five-beam Frame Structure & Dynamic Air Diffuser
